In The Low of Flood

It’s the cloudy day ever, many children just can see their houses with superficial gazing and I just can take a breath heavily with my soaked feet till my knees in one district of Bandung, Bojongsoang, on December 23^th 2012. That seems a normal day with flood area, doesn’t it? However, I might feel so tragic in looking at them and their conditions. In spite of the visiting their regent, they are really in the reality life without any exemplary attention from their majesty. It’s not peculiar conditions for them because it’s not the first time that they are in the conditions; they should not have houses to live, clothes to wear and food to eat. So before we step further, let’s remind ourselves about the flood in this country, Indonesia.

If you extremely think that Indonesia is a gorgeous country, it will absolutely disappoint you. You might think that Indonesia has many cultures, natural places, and others. However, Indonesia also recently has new custom. The custom is flood coming every year when the rains come. This custom comes to some big cities of Indonesia, having low areas such as Jakarta. It’s a big problem having not solutions, isn’t it? On the other hand, the government might look for the best way to solve it. In fact, at present this area extends to other cities even Bandung with many mountains, natural locations and sanctuary and it does not decrease year to year. When the rains come, some districts of Bandung will go down.

As we know that Bandung, having many beautiful enticement of places and power of attractions to catch the tourists, is well-known city. It offers us food, fashion, and even fun. Therefore, every week many tourists both domestic and foreign come to Bandung for having fun and obtaining such a great moment. It is good for the government and some people earning money from it. On the other hand, this condition makes Bandung more crowded with rubbish because many people throw it every where; streets, rivers, shopping areas, garden parks, and others. It absolutely litters the environment and makes flood come easily to people who live in banks or outskirts. These areas are Baleendah, Bojongsoang, Rancaekek and Palasari.

Many people, however, think that the effort of government, rubbing down of rubbish, is useless. This opinion comes because it has been years since the starting of it and the result is same as previous. They think that government just wastes money with that project. In addition, they need real aids from the government. In fact, Mr. Sobandi has said that they haven’t even got the aids yet from the government so that they have to look for some helps by their own effort such as making some posko, asking money on the street which causes traffic jam, and doing other activities which can help them. It happened because they need it although they are used to being in that position.

The flood causes many consequences; getting diseases, littering the houses and obtaining trauma for some children or even adults. Those consequences force them to do what they don’t want to do; asking or begging from other people. As the result, they can buy medicine for their diseases, they can eat despite only with noodles, they can wear clothes in spite of used clothes, jacket and others. It sounds miserable, doesn’t it? Therefore, we have to find the best solution for them and actually for our environment. The solution has to compatible between the government and the societies. In fact, most inhabitants want the government to make good regulation and hold responsible with everything that happened. On the other hand, the inhabitants do not aware in keeping the earth. They only can make disaster, damage and even detriment. I think it must be cooperation between the societies and government to know how sad a moment is. Therefore, if you are here and in my position, you will say nothing and just give them what you have and you can.
